Hushpuppy, a brave six-year-old girl, lives with her Wink, his father, in the bathtub, a southern Delta community at the edge of the world. Love winks hardly prepares her for the unraveling of the universe, during a time when hes not there to protect it. When Wink contracts a mysterious illness, nature flies out of whack, temperatures rise, and the ice caps melt, unleashing an army of prehistoric creatures called bison. With the increasing water buffalo coming, and who are interested in fading health, Hushpuppy goes in search of her missing mother.
